long time

The last month has been busy, but part of the reason for no post is that using a tablet to type is the pits!!!  I find I am correcting quite a bit, especially deleting m and n instead of spaces.  I am also frustrated by not being able to caption my photos.

Zinga had a baby boy almost three weeks ago. He is fat and starting to toddle around.   There was a girl puppy but she got stuck and I could not get her out in time.  Seems to be always the girls!!

Topper went to his forever home this week.  He has four skin brothers that already adore him.

I left Dave with the new puppy and the rest of the gang and went to Columbia for a week to spend time with the granddaughter.  We had a great time and then she came back with me to spend a couple of days here.  The puppies enjoyed having a playful person around.

Starting to plan for the December show.  I am so excited but also VERY nervous to go to  my first AKC show.  I keep looking at Dreamer and Romeo to see if I think they will make the cut.  Dreamer is going through a long and roach stage that I hope goes away to his prior adorable self.

Tobi will be leaving this weekend, which makes me sad.  He is so sweet and we will really miss him.

July 9

We are on puppy watch.  Zinga is due any day.

I did get them other three puppies pictures today.  They have names on the pictures, but no captions until I get to a computer with a keyboard.

Dreamer got his bath and comb out today and then we walked to see if he remembered how to walk on the lead. I am planning on a show this Fall.  I need to decide whether to take Dreamer or Romeo or both.

Dave and I rode the bike to Branson last weekend.  Thanks to Lori and Taylor for taking care of the whole gang at home.  This was out first real trip on the trike and we were not sure how it would go.  We completed the trip with only a few showers in KC.

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Busy day.  The lady that lived next door to us when I was growing up died Saturday and her funeral was today.

Maggie left with her new mom, Mary, to head to Florida.

Romeo had a bath and brush out.  Tate, Joy, and Jazzy only got baths.  I still need to get them brushed out.

Dereck and Kesha surprised us by coming up.  They registered their new car in Marshall County.  We got to visit over supper before they headed home.

BTCA meeting and then final clean up before bed.

Hoping to get the last three puppies brushed out and pictures done tomorrow.

Dreamers DNA has been finished, now I can get all of the FSS AKC applications in!

Friday

All of the adults and Dreamer have now had dentals.  Maggie is doing much better tonight after her spay yesterday.

Today Topper, Lucky, and King got baths, comb outs, trims and photos.  There are new pictures on the puppy page.  No captions, but their names are on each photo.  Sometime in the next three days I will get the other three puppies updated too.

Topper and Lucky were a bit scared to be put on a chair by themselves.  King still would not sit still, but did not jump, even though I could tell he thought about it.  I taped Topper and Luckiest ears after the photo shoot.  Lucky promptly got out of it, so I taped him again.

Maggie's departure date will likely be moved back a day or two.  That will allow all, of the antibiotic to be given to her before she leaves.

After we get through all the dogs' baths, I need to pull hair from ears.  I did toenails and ear trims when I groomed them.    paint and caulk are in my future too.

Wednesday

Leta, Lanka, and Te came through their dentals okay.  Took Maggie and Angie in when I picked the first three up.  Poor Angie was either stressing or coming down with something.  She had diarrhea all over me and the clinic floor.

Most of the puppies are able to work the doggie door now.  I will start on their baths and picture once I get Dreamer, Shona, and Gracie done.

I have all of the AKC forms done (again). I had to redo them because was informed that names that did not fit were not to be written outside of the boxes and that AKC would get full names from the registration forms.  Pictures for AKC registrations are all done.  I do not have Dreamer's DNA back, so I don't have his BTRA registration yet.  I may have to send it in later.  I haven't even tried to do Romeo's since I would have to order the DNA kit.  Not sure how this all works after the registrations are sent in.  I am not sure if I duel register BTRA and AKC or just AKC from now on.

Need to go give the girls their antibiotic.

Sunday

We spent a lot of this weekend on the road.  Saturday after getting things done around here (dog wise), Dave and I took off on the trike.  We went East about an hour and then took roads that we had never been on.  We went through Atchison and then into KC.  Drove home through Topeka.  We had never been on the trike that long in a single day.  Dave is wanting to take a weekend trip on the trike and this was a test to see if our bodies could take hours riding.  Dave already has a seat cushion and I ordered one after we got home.

We went to Lincoln today.  Picked up dog food and pee pads.  Also bought a laundry sink to put in the barn.  I found it on Craig's list, so it was only about 1/4 of the cost of a new one.

Romeo has started sleeping on my foot, taking Joey's place.  Tate is changing so quickly.  He seems to be growing into his ears.  Joy and Jazzy stick pretty close to each other.  Not sure if this is because they are the only girls or siblings or just because they are so much alike.

Wednesday is the start of dogs going in to the vet for dentals.  once this groups is done, all of the dogs will have had dentals this 'spring.'. Maggie will be spayed and Dreamer has baby teeth to come out.

Hoping to get Murphy bathed and Bella bathed and clipped tomorrow.  If I still have time then maybe Angie.  Meeting up with some teacher friends late tomorrow afternoon.  I need to make something to take to that too.

Friday

Good bye spring and Joey!
Met Joey's new mom today.  She is so nice and or course in love with her new little man.  We got to talk a little over a late lunch during her lay over.  The people at the restaurant were great and even brought out a big container of water for Joey.
The traffic in Omaha was picking up, even though it was only 4.  The trip home was quiet without Joey to talk to.

No pictures today, because I am tired.  (How does that happen when I sat all day and even took a nap at the airport?)

Maybe tomorrow if Dave doesn't decide to do something.

Thursday

Tomorrow Joey leaves.  Even Dave told him tonight that he was going to miss him.  I have been to KC airport many many times, but this time I meet Joey's new mom at the Omaha airport.  I am a bit worried about the new area and of course I have to go clear through Omaha.  At least it should not be rush hour when I am traveling.

Yesterday, I got Zinga bathed and AKC pictures taken.  Also had to run errands in town.  I can't remember what else I did.  Hmm, memory is gone already! Lol

Today, Darla, Leta, Laika, and Monique got baths and AKC pictures.  Joey already got his bath this morning since he went to the vet for a health certificate.  I think just Murphy, Bella, Angie, and TeTe are left.  Then I will start in on puppy baths and pictures.  It is also warm enough to shave hair on a few of the dogs that don't seem to tolerate the heat.  I may have to run to town to caption photos on my webpage since I can't figure out how to so it with a tablet.

Friday the 13th

Not many dog things got done today.  of course having puppies at the playful age makes it hard to get anything done.  Romeo and Joey have been going out to play outside when I water plants in the morning.  They really seem to love it, but stick pretty close to me.  Joey is eating the softened dry food very well now.

When I took dog beds out of the washer, there was stuffing coating the inside of the washer.  Guess I can tell which bed the puppies were chewing on now.

We ran to Manhattan tonight when. Dave got home to get sewer pipe.  Now he can hopefully fix our back up problem.  Won't likely be tomorrow because we Re going to go to Salina to see Dereck and Kesha.  I made three fresh strawberry pies to take because her family will be there too.  I decided to make the pies at about 10 tonight, so had to make a trip to Walmart,  Good thing it does not take too long when I don't make the crust from scratch.

All of the adult dogs are done with vaccinations until December. Of course puppies will need their next distemper and a rabies shot yet.

june 12

I just realized that tomorrow is Friday 13th.

I did get a few pictures taken.  Tobi, Wolf, and Dreamer for AKC registration and Joy, Topper and Tate for updated puppy pictures.  Hopefully I can get some more tomorrow since I won't have the vet coming by.  I need to get Darla and Zing's done so I can get their BTRA papers back.

Right now it looks like Joey will be leaving on June 22.  Going to really miss that ornery guy.  He was a whole 2.3 pounds today.  His size does not stop him from picking on the other puppies though.

Been looking for a small water heater for the barn.  Will be nice to have hot water down there.  Of course, I need a sink too.  I want something big enough to fill my scrub bucket and wash dogs.  I have my laundry room sink set up for the dogs now, but still use the kitchen sink most of the time.

One (or more) of the puppies like to unstuff  toys and beds.  I am finding stuffing all over.  It is not quite as hard to clean up as pee pad fluff.

It will soon be time to give all of the adults their summer buzz cuts, but tonight the temperature here is supposed to be in the 50s.

Wednesday

Vet comes tomorrow afternoon.
Joey has taught himself how to go out the doggie door and squeeze through  the chain link  fence.  I have to really keep an eye on that little guy.  His adoption is pending again.  Maggie probably has found her retirement home too.

Today was the day for wrong phone numbers.  I tried calling two vets only to get out of service recordings.  thank goodness for Google. Then untried to text pictures to someone and the response was 'i think you have the wrong number'.

Quick trip to town to go by post office and get groceries.

I think I have decided to keep Romeo.  I haven't kept any of Maggie's babies.  he is looking pretty nice.  is a Wolf son.  Now I just need to get a Murphy boy to keep.

Still did not get pictures done

Tuesday pm

Where does all of the time go?  I guess it does not help to have to wait for the phone that was over two hours late.
Talked with a couple of ladies on the phone today regarding adoptions.  made vet appointments for 5 more dentals, a spay, Dreamer's baby teeth to be pulled, 6 second puppy shots, Emma, Tobi and Wolfi boosters.  The shots will be done here on Thursday and all of the dentals and surgery will be done in two weeks.

Still getting things washed and put away from the trip.  put off doing Jillian things since we won't see her until this weekend probably.

Only pica today were Joey.  Hopefully more tomorrow,

Tuesday Am

Feeling like a prisoner in my own home while waiting for my phone to be delivered.  paid for overnight priority for delivery by 10am and it is not here at 11:30.  I guess I should have paid for just next day and not the priority.  so much needs to be done that requires me being away from the house.

Monday, June 9

Did not leave home, but was super busy today.  Plumbers came to dig out sewer line, put water line into barn and fix spigot on side of house.  I had to decide where I wanted the line to come into the barn.

Mailman came with a package to be signed for (dog harness) and them UPS came with a part for the mower.

I worked on BTCA things for a good chunk of today.  I was WAY behind in sending out new member packets.  Also had a couple of kennel registrations for BTRA.
Started filling out the paperwork to get all of the adults registered with AKC.  still need to get copies of their BTRA papers and take photos.

I have finally found something that Joey will eat for more than one meal besides people food.  I soak the puppy kibble until soft, then add Dyne and mask it all up.

Can't wait until my phone comes tomorrow.  paid extra to get it here in the morning, but last I looked it said by 4:30 in the afternoon.  a couple of calls I have been putting off will be first on my list.  I also want to take puppy pictures tomorrow.  the babies are so cute right now.  Fuzzy and very playful.  they should all be ready to travel by the end of the week.

Joey has become available again.  his new mommy is having health issues and made the hard decision that a puppy would not be the best right  now.

I have started a list of things to do.  I can leave a room to go get something and totally get off track.

June 7

Happy birthday to my father.

Phone will be here sometime on Tuesday morning.  Until then email me!

Dreamer for his bath yesterday.  A lot of my adults are getting warm in their coats even though they are only about three inches long.  I guess clippers are in their near future.  Bought several kinds of dog foods today to try to find one that Joey will eat.  I remember A-Emmelie liked wing a ling.  it has a chicken wing cooked in the can.  Pam took the meat off the bone until she realized that the pressure cooked bone was soft.

My Nook decided to reset itself today.  I lost all of the books I had downloaded and the one I was currently reading.

Taking Aleve twice a day is helping me sleep better without the back pain, but my hips and arms hurt today.  my body thinks it is getting old, but who has tome for that?

June 6

It finally happened.... I killed my phone.  The last day of Jamaica I was using it as a watch and it fell onto the ocean when I was rinsing my flip flops off and the strap of the purse broke.  It has been in rice since we got home, but no luck this time.  I will be getting a new phone tomorrow.  PLEASE call or text me since all of my contacts will be lost.

Everyone here survived while we were gone.  Lori and Taylor took great care of everything.  Carolyn will be happy to know that Joey had special attention.  He is officially spoiled rotten and still like people meat over anything in the dog food family.  Taylor already knew all of the dogs'/puppies' names, but Lori told me that she does now too!  They met up with Rosie's new mom when she came to pick her up.  Hated that I missed getting to meet her, but our travel dates were the same days so we did not get that chance.

If you want to know how to get your BTRA registered Biewer Terrier registered with AKC, drop me a line.  It will cost $35 per dog.

Can't wait to get my new phone, I feel so out of touch.

Memorial Day 2014

Hope everyone took this weekend to remember those who have served to allow us freedom, and the loved ones that have left this life on earth.

Dave and I worked on the barn today.  We had a down pour last night, so there was an urgent need for caulking the bottom of the wall. Hoping next time the water won't rise as high.  Dave helped me give quickie baths to the dogs and puppies.

Sis and probably Love leave me tomorrow.  Dreamer goes to the Groomer to try to get some of the snarls out and keep his hair as long as possible.  Love goes to see about her scratched eye and Rosie aka Razzie gets her second vaccination.  Then the trip to KC.

I think I am just about ready for the trip.  Bag is mostly packed.  Laundry is just about done.  House is as clean as it is going to get.  Can't forget the last minute things such as toiletries and power cords.

I will post from my phone if there is WiFi, otherwise I will not be in touch.

May 20

Took 5 puppies to the vet tonight.  Tate and Joey got their first shot.  Joey weighs in at only 1.5 pounds.  Joy and Jazzy got their second shots.  Lovie went to have the vet check out her eye.  As far as she can tell it is looking okay.

Poor Wolf had to have an unplanned bath and haircut.  I was going to get him done in the next week, but a dirty bottom made it necessary to be done tonight.

There are only three taped ears.  Topper did not get taped last week because his ear leather was nicked by the clipper, so both of his are taped now.  King has one ear taped.  hopefully by this time next week all ears will be up.

Tomorrow is the last full day of school.  cook out and run day in afternoon.  Thursday the kids are out at noon.  Grade cards go home with the kids on Thursday.

Lotty leaves Thursday.  I still don't have all of her things together.

Sunday, May 18

Sorry no new pictures today.  We went to KC today to take Ando back to Dana.  Also helped Richard find shoes and a tie for the wedding.  I got up early to give Ando her haircut.  I had given her bath last night.  on the way to KC I sewed the ribbons on the hair piece that Dana had gotten.  Nothing like doing things at the last  minute!

Before we left I gave Joey and Love some chicken and noodles.  I wanted to make sure they had something in their tummies since I would be away for longer than I ever had.  Joey is so tiny.  I put those two in an expend.  The rest of the gang was loose in the kitchen.  I could tell when we got home theta they mostly tried to potty on the pads while we were gone.

Good news today for Sis.  She will be going to her forever home in a week and a half.

Right now the puppy/dog travel schedule is:
This week, Thursday, Lofty will be picked up in Marysville.
The following week on Tuesday or Wednesday, Lovie will leave with the transporter.  Wednesday evening, Sis will be picked up when we go to KC for the evening.
First week in June, Rosie  will be picked up with Lori meeting Rosie's new mom.
Mid June, Joey will be picked up by his mom at the airport.

Field trip tomorrow.  Tuesday we have award party scheduled.  Wednesday is the annual cookout and fun day.  Kids get out Thursday at noon.  Teachers work Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.  Busy busy week.  My wedding hair appointment is Thursday after school.

Saturday May 17

I found some kennel panels on Craig's list.  We will be able to put some nicer fencing around the patio.  Right now we have chain link that has some issues.  chain link also lets some of he puppies squeeze through.

Starting to worry about having everything ready to be gone.  I know the house won't  be as  put together as I  would like. It will be clean, but I  have things that need to be put away.  I come from a long line of pliers.  I just don't know where to put some of it. Other things just need to be hauled off and are arranged by were they go.

Love is doing well and does not even act like anything is wrong.   Joey is my little shadow.  he is constantly at my feet.  he would rather be with me than the other pups.  Because of his small size they pick on him occasionally.  I am going to ask Lori to take him home some can be watched and also not with the others without supervision.

Started packing the three girls' bags that will be leaving while and before I am gone.

I have tried contacting a reference on Thursday evening and this afternoon.  Left a message and they are not getting back to me.  Do I need to read that as the person should not get a dog?  The people at the vet office were very vague.  gave me  a funny feeling.

Going to get to see Dana, Richard, and Jill tomorrow!

wednesday may14

This week is half over and next week ends Thursday at noon for the kids.  wow! Just a week left.

Lovie was supposed to leave this weekend, but she scratched her eye.  probably from her own claw or one of her little buddies.    Now the earliest she can leave me is May 27.  She will only leave if the vet gives her a clean bill of health.  So it looks like Lofty will be the first one to go.  I had better start getting extra snuggle time in!

I am pretty sure that Joey has found his new home.  He is probably going to go live with two other HS babies.

The  puppies are learning to stay cleaner.  They are not looking so dirty just a few days after their bathes.

Andi has been visiting, but will go back to Columbia this weekend.

Lovie and her sisters were supposed to go tot he vet on Friday, but Lovie will get her shot on the 27 when she goes back for her eye and the sisters will get theirs next week when I take Joey and Tate in for shot #1.  I need to see about getting Lotty's shot that Friday before she leaves.

May 6

Yesterday was my Mom's 80th birthday.  She is still going strong after a hiccup in her health last fall.

The puppies are getting lots of inquiries.  Lovie has been adopted and will be leaving in a couple of weeks.  Razzy and Lotty are on hold pending deposits arriving.  All of the new homes sound just wonderful.  They will probably be leaving in early June.

The vet visit went well tonight.  The office was  very busy.  All the puppies checked out completely healthy.   Next week the older puppies go back and then the following week the youngest ones go in.  Right before we leave form the wedding the middle puppies go in for round two.

Meeting after school tomorrow.  Thursday and Friday there is nothing after school.  Next week I Have two morning meetings.  Those are the worst for a night owl because it means I have to remember them and also get up early.

May 4

11 puppy baths, two adult baths holes in barn filled with foam, puppy pictures, weed flower garden, plus sitting on the floor and  playing with dogs and puppies and a nap.  We will soon be able to take the babies outside to play in the sun.

This is the last week of regular schedule classes.  We so have STAR testing this week.

Dave mowed the lawn today and it made his allergies flare up.  Poor guy.

Better head off to bed, even though I had that nap today.  lol

May 3

Spent the day in Lincoln.  Dave's bike went up for its 5000 mile service, the neutral light not working, trunk latch broken, and new hand grips to hopefully make long drives a bit more comfortable.   I went to Michael's to get ribbon for Dana' a headband and came out with several things to use as props for puppy pictures.  They had a cute coffee mug plant pot, but I did not want people to think I was promoting the term teacup.

Printed the return address labels for Dana's announcements tonight, so now they are ready for me to take them to the post office to buy postage.

Joey and Tate played with the other puppies tonight.  When I have tried to let them out with the older puppies before they acted scared.  Tonight they joined in on the frolicking.

Tomorrow is bath day.  Puppies and a couple of adults need baths. I also want to do a bit of painting and foaming in the barn.  I need to get things ready for when we are gone and summer.  Zinga and Darla may be coming into heat.  They are old enough now that they could be safely bred.  It would be nice to try to get another nice Tobi puppy before he leaves.   Not sure what I am going to do.  If they do get bred the puppies would be due in July sometime, and then ready to leave in October. What to-do? What to do?

I think that Razzy is spoken for.  There has been a lot of interest on her and I have a waiting list started.  I find this kind of crazy because she is a nice puppy, but all of my babies will make great companions.  I thought that Romeo would be snatched up quickly because of his small size. He wasn't very fuzzy in the last pictures though.  Crossing my fingers for some cute pictures tomorrow!

May 1

Happy May Day!  I remember as a kid making May baskets and taking them to my friends.  We did it with our two children, but kids now don't do May baskets any more.

My class is done with state assessments, except for one girl that was gone today.  The students have three weeks left of this school year.

The older babies are on their own now.  No more mamas!  Joey and Tate are not too far behind them, but I need to remember that they are quite a bit younger.  I taped droopy ears yesterday.  Some ears are up, so I have all states of tape.  No tape, one tape, both taped.

The wedding dress is done and home.  Dana had announcements to print but no printer, so they came home with me.  I also have a belt that we are converting to a headband to sew on, and Andi came home with me to get a haircut.  I guess my work is really cut out for me since I can't seem to keep up with the puppies already!

Tomorrow is the weigh in for the Biggest Loser contest at school.  This week has not been good for my diet, but overall I have done well.

I need to get wedding announcements assembled, so I had better get moving.
