Christmas Day 2014

Hope everyone had a blessed Holiday.  Unfortunately mine has been clouded with a phone call yesterday.  A lady called me from a Topeka pet store.  She was wanting to know about Mira.  Seems the lady that I GAVE Mira to has taken her to a pet store to be sold for over $400.  Did you see above where I gave her Mira?   The owner was told that if she could not keep Mira she was to come back to me, but I guess $$$ speaks louder than this poor dog's well being.  Many of you will remember Mira.  She was the most hyper Biewer I have ever encountered.  I told this lady that plus all of Mira's history of hurting dogs, creating messes and two failed adoptions. I did email this lady to ask how Mira ended up in a pet store and she told me that she wasn't in a pet store.  Well, I am smart enough to know someone is not telling the truth and why would the lady at the pet store looking for a pet lie?   My heart is so heavy with the thought that Mira may be alone in a cage at a pet store instead of in someone's arms at Christmas.   I am hoping to hear from the lady at the pet store that she did adopt Mira even if they were trying to rob her with the fee they were asking.  Please send prayers that Mira has found the right home or will be returned to me.

December 22, 2014

I am actually typing this on my computer.  We will see how long it lasts before it dies!

Cleaned up barn/kennel today.  Dave is great to take care of things while I am gone, but he does not keep up with things quite like I would like them to be.  Wrapped gifts tonight.  Tomorrow I will tackle the house and Dreamer.  If there is any time left, I would like to start in on all of the other dogs a couple at a time.  Puppies are good for now, so they can wait until next week.

The big puppy, that I have  been calling Tank, will get a bath Wednesday morning.  He is going to be picked up by Santa Christmas Eve afternoon to go to a special girl.  Don't want to ruin the surprise for now, so more after Christmas about his new home.  Not sure when Ria will go to her new home, but will be making the arrangements soon.  Would be nice if it was over my break, but that probably won't happen.  Need to be on the look out for homes for the rest of the puppies, King and Romeo.

Kingston, a Murphy son, will be coming to live with me.  He is a tiny boy, so I will have to see if he is able to breed any of my girls.   I have used his full brother/littermate, Vinnie before and loved the babies.

The USDA inspector was here today.  Just like last time, he loved the place.  Makes me sad that puppy mills can pass inspection.  He told me that I did not need beds for my dogs since the floor is sealed in the kennel building.  Little does he know that my dogs DO need beds, because who would want to sleep on the cold hard floor?  The State inspector should be coming sometime soon too.  Not worried about inspections, just takes some time to go over everything.

Dread going through all of my receipts for taxes, but it WILL be started after Christmas.  Our tax appointment is mid January, so I need to get busy!   Hope my computer holds out, so I don't have to go to school to input figures.  So much easier than the ledger book I use to use, but a pain to have to have a computer to get everything recorded.

Let Christmas break begin!

Stayed until 2 today to get pictures updated on website. I think I have decided to keep girl 2 but undecided about which boy.  My first choice only has one (that I can feel) testical, so I will watch him a bit longer.

The next show that I know will probably be going to is in April in Wichita.  Close to home this time.  I will probably take 2 or 3 this time.   Will need help showing since two will be in the ring at the same time.   If I have points figured correctly, Dreamer has 4 points towards his award.  This should be the most of ant Biewer Terrier since the BOB was taken by two different girls.  They should each have 3.

Merry Christmas!

December 18, 2014

What a month!

Two babies have already left me!  I took Lily and Pepper with me on my trip to Florida.  Lily met up with her mommy, Debbie, in Missouri on our first day of travel.  It was a rainy yucky day, but I bet Debbie did not even notice!

Pepper and Dreamer traveled and slept together in a larger wire crate.  They did great with the travel.  Pepper thought she needed to walk with the "big" dogs instead of being carried.  I let her walk on her leash until she showed signs of getting tired and slowing down.

At the show we set up on Monday and my friend showed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.   The Biewers got to show only twice on Friday.

Dreamer did GREAT!   He was BOS for both FSS shows, which is kind of like second place for the Biewers.  He acted really well in the ring and only set back on the table once.  The second show was also counted as the BTCAs specialty, so he also got BOS for our specialty!  I will try to get some of the pictures from Facebook onto the blog.

Yesterday I groomed and clipped on the puppies.  I also took pictures, but forgot to bring the reader to school so I could post the pictures.  Hopefully tomorrow I can do that.

Weights as of yesterday and their estimated adult weights

G2  2.75#  5.5#

I am watching the two remaining girls and a couple of the boys to see if I am going to keep them.  Ria will be leaving sometime and Tank will go to live with my grand daughter, after Santa picks him up.  I need to get on my critical glasses and start making +/- lists to help me decide on which ones to keep.

Darla is due to have puppies January 3.  She is not real big yet, so maybe one or two.  She is a pretty small girl herself, so it will be interesting to see what she has.  This will be her first litter.

Sunday 11/16/14

Puppies are getting to be more work!  They are not weaned yet but the mamas are spending more time away from them. Round 2 of tape.  Several puppies did not need any further taping for right now.

11/11, Monday

Puppy pictures have been updated!  I will try to remember to get currrent weights updated too.   Anyone wanting a BIG Biewer, needs to look at boy 7.  Right now he is charting to be around 9 pounds.

First vet visit is this week.  Hope it goes well for the 8 that are going!

November 7

Staying late after school tonight to do just a bit of updating.  Only two girls remain on my looking list.  The boys are all still looking, but there have been a couple of inquiries.

Between time change and the early darkness, I have been getting home most night after dark.  Bless Dave for helping me with dog chores.  It would be nice to be able to walk out of school at 4 when we are allowed to leave, but paperwork keeps me here.

This has been a really trying week at school.  Another teacher is causing trouble for the third grade teachers, so we all are getting "talked" to.  Do we really need this drama from teachers when the parents provide ample? Plus it takes up any planning time during the day, so that creates more after school hours too!

The babies are doing great!  I on the other hand have misplaced my SD card.  I took pictures of some of the boys the other day and now I can't find the card to get them on the web page.  I need a full time secretary, or more time at home myself!

The older 8 puppies have a vet appointment next week for their first shots.  I will schedule the younger four for the following week.  I need to get Dreamer his Kennel Cough vaccination too before we travel to the show.

So much to remember!   I think I need a small notepad with a chain to wear.  Then I can hopefully remember to write things down, but won't lose my list.  Yes, some days it seems this bad!  lol

November 2

Waiting for granddaughter to wake up this morning.  I guess we wore her out this weekend!

Girls 4 and 5 have been spoken for. I have also been contacted by a few other people for other pups, but nothing for certain yet.

Yesterday was was toenail and ear hair trim day.  I also taped all but three puppies' ears.  They are very active now.  I am still giving softened food but see them munching on hard puppy food too.

I I have a girl coming into heat but we will see what happens.  They would be due right after Christmas.

I I need to try to quietly get some things done so when Jillian wakes we can begin our day

Tuesday

The girls' pictures have been updated.  Look for the pictures with the pumpkin and the rust background.   I hope to get the boys' pictures taken tonight and then updated tomorrow.  You can really tell that girl 1 and 2 are a week older than girls 3, 4 and 5.  If I remember to bring the weights to school from Sunday, I will post those and expected adult weights too.

It is about time to start taping ears.  I have shaved them once, but will do it again before the tape goes on.

One long day done, day two is just starting.

Monday

Pictures of the girls should be posted tomorrow.  Hopefully the boys will follow Ina day or so.

Ordered rhe rhe water heater for the barn. Excited to get the sink hooked up.

Conferences went well. All parents showed except one.  I think tomorrow's will go just as well.

Trying to to get pictures lined up for new business cards.

I ordered a grooming table top for my wonder wheeler.  Can't wait to see it and put it all together.

Only about out a month until the show in FL.

October 26

Big week coming up.  Two long days of work plus taking care of dogs.  I need to get baby pictures tomorrow sometime too.  I have promised pictures.  I get several emails each week now about the babies.

Jazzy leaves on Friday.  She is doing really well since her surgeries.

I I need to keep working with Dreamer. Did not do much with him this week.  The weather won't be nice enough to walk outside pretty soon. Maybe the cold will make his hair grow faster!

Hope to get baby pictures updated by Wednesday

October 24

The three older puppies went to the vet on Wednesday to get the last of their shots. Jazzy had a lump that the vet remived on Thursday. It was a hair follicle that had become impacted.  She was also spayed and had baby teeth pulled.  The boys are scheduled for their surgeries on November 4.

The 12 little babies are all out of their whelping boxes. They are in pens with a bed, pee pad, food and water.  The mamas still spend the majority of their time with the babies.   They still get baby cereal and moistened hard food.

October 31 is going to be very eventful.  Jazzy's new dad will be picking her up in KC.  Will then pick our granddaughter up to bring back to Marysville to trick or treat.

People le are starting to inquire about the babies. Seems so quick but they are 4-5 weeks old already.

Next week eek is conferences on Monday and Tuesday.  Not looking forward to 12 hour days.

October 13, 2014

We did go to the dog show yesterday and took Dreamer with us.  He was a bit scared at first in the car by himself, but settled in pretty quickly.  When we got to the show grounds, I could not find his show lead.  I improvised with another lead that I had.  We looked for my friend and she was getting ready to go in for owner/handler with one of her Shiba boys.  Glad we got to see them go in the ring.

Dreamer was scared at first and his tail was dropped.  He got better and was walking pretty good, but oh my! the floor smells wonderful to a small dog. lol   The worst part about the trip to this show was a lady came up to me and my friend and told me that the Biewer Yorkie would never be accepted.  My friend jumped in and told her that they are not Biewer Yorkies, but Biewer Terriers and they ARE accepted into AKC FSS.  The lady then told me that I needed to have my dogs tested as they would come out 100% Yorkshire.  I told her I had tested dogs and they were NOT Yorkshires and that when we did our initial tests these dogs clustered together away from the Yorkie cluster.  I asked her if she breeds/shows Yorkshire Terriers.  She said NO! as she walked away.  My friend told me that she raises/shows fox terriers, but a good friend of this lady does raise Yorkshires.

We also go to see the last horse to leave our place in his new home.  He looked great!  It has been 5 years since we had seen him.  So happy to know that even our huge babies have wonderful homes!

I am hoping that the days before the show will help Dreamer settle in and be his normal, happy self during the show.

October 11/12

All of the little babies are doing well.  They are gaining and eyes are now open.  Hoping to get their pictures and King's picture updated this weekend.

Filled out the AKC paperwork for puppy papers for the new ones.  I need to get the BTRA paperwork filled out to, but that requires me to have names decided.

We had to buy dog food today.  $120 later I still don't have the puppy food.  We are not buy food every week now that we are feeding regular adult food to some, reduced calorie to some, and large breed to Emma, plus of course the puppy food for the mamas and babies.  On the way home we hit a raccoon :-(

We may go to the AKC dog show in Lawrence tomorrow.  If I would have had a 4-6 month old puppy, we could have shown at it!  Dreamer just needs to get out and around other dogs.  He is doing very well at home, so needs to learn to show off when there are a lot of distractions and noise.

Chill is in the air, but we have not turned the heat on yet.  The babies have heating pads, and no one else seems to mind the cold.

This next week of school will be the end of the first quarter.  Christmas is almost here.  The year is going fast!

Hard to believe that some of these babies may be gone before Christmas!  They are just starting to move around their boxes.  About ready to take the box away from the oldest ones and they crawl out occasionally now anyway.  I am watching a couple of the puppies with an eye on keepers.

October 4

Cold day today and I have to give at least one bath.  Romeo has dirty bottom this morning.  :-(     The tiny puppies are doing well.  The teenie tiny girl is holding her own.  she is over three oz now that she is over a week old.  She has not been wanting to supplement and she is gaining.  I would hate for her to aspirate the formula, as that could cause her to die quickly.  I guess with her it is better to watch and weigh.    As long as she is gaining I won't tube feed her.

The oldest of the 12 are starting to wobble around their box.  They are 2.5 weeks old.  The mamas are getting along, so I took down the towels dividing their spaces.  They can now see each other and the dogs outside their space too.  All is quiet with no upset noises, so I guess they have gotten over the new puppy jitters.

Thursday and Friday I was at school until 6.  I can still think of things that I should have done and I came home with a huge folder of things to grade.  I try to save it for car rides, but Dave worked last night (left at 11:30 and got back at 8), so I don't think we will be going anywhere today.  Now I have to try to keep the dogs that are inside quiet while he sleeps.   It also means I have to pick and choose what I do to keep the household and dog noise down.   (No treat time this morning!  lol)

Dreamer is doing really well with his "show" training.  He walks with me, usually with head up.  He stops and stands or stacks pretty good.  We still need to work on the table as he tends to hunch up and look roachy.   He likes getting the extra treats for being a good boy.  Hope he performs for the judges in December!  Also hoping his hair grows like crazy between now and then.

Need to keep moving...trying to keep quiet and it takes me longer to get things done.

Saturday

i did get the new babies and Romeo's pictures taken today.   Dave got home around ten and there went all of my plans.  I think he has to go out again in the morning so maybe I can get a little more checked off my to do list.

Leta's tiny girl is being supplemented.  Still very very tiny.
Angie's babies are starting to open their eyes.

Friday

I did not go to school yesterday.  Leta had her babies.  All is going well so far.  So now I have 12 babies in the house.  They will be so much fun in 4-6 weeks!   These babies will be ready in early to mid December.  Most of them will be able to travel with me to Orlando in early December.  Of course there is sl always a chance that I will keep one or that the payback puppies will be claimed.

I I am pretty sure that if all 7 boys and 5 girls make it there will be 'extras' looking for approved homes.

Big rig homecoming game tonight. Took the school kids to the parade and pep rally.  It was rather warm today and some complained about being hot and thirsty but they all survived.

Dave has to work tomorrow so now I maybe get some things done.  I started a few things yesterday but lack of sleep made me take a nap after puppies were born

Monday

Only 4 pups, so not sure what else I was feeling.   Hoping they are all doing well when I get home from school tonight.

Stayed a bit later to get work caught up and to post cute Tippy pictures.
Need to get home to take some of my own pictures that are LONG overdue.

Sunday

Laika has new babies.  One girl is very tiny so really watching her. I will start supplementing her tomorrow night if she makes it until then.

Did is not get pictures. Dave had car trouble this morning and then I got a migraine. I had to go into school tonight to get things ready for this week and then Laika started in shortly after we got home. So far 4 but thinking there is one more maybe.

Jeans week eek this week to raise money for cancer.

Sept 20

Tate is with his new mom tonight.  He will be keeping a sweet lady company.

4 puppies will soon be a week old.  One tiny boy is being supplemented since his siblings easily push him out of the way.   Watching for the next litter anyday now.

Hoping to to get pictures of the older pups and the new ones tomorrow.  These new babies will be ready to go to new homes in early December.

Dreamer er is getting better about standing on the table.  Need to work on walking WITH me and maybe free stack.

Sept 14

Third time is a charm. Tried to post twice from my phone.  The tablet I have been using belongs to my son.  The Asus tablet that will soon be a year old and has only worked about 2 months still does not work.    My phone and school computer will have to get me through.

Did I tell you that Joy found her forever home?  She is living less than an hour away.  Her new mom had been watching her on-line for awhile.

Romeo is also being offered to a new home.  He has retained a testicle, so can't be shown and should not be bred. He is a playful loving boy that will be around 5 pounds.  I was so hoping to show him in December.  He is NICE!

We are on puppy watch!

August 31

Hope tomorrow is a restful Labor Day.  Good bye summer 2014!

We have also said goodbye to Lucky who is living in Minnesota and just tonight to Joy.

Dave and I got to spend a couple of hours with Dana and Jillian today.  Got home in time for a storm that almost took the ac unit out (thank goodness it started working again!). We then met up with Joy's  new dad.  She took the car ride in the storm in stride.

Zinga's little boy is 5-6 weeks old!  I have been calling him Nibbles and Dave has been calling him Oscar.  I guess I need to get pictures of him, especially since he is almost weaned.

School is well under way.  I have already requested off for the dog show, but not sure yet if both boys are going.

August 19

Sorry, I don't seem to be able to post more often!

Had a good Saturday with my Shiba Inu friend at the AKC show in Topeka.  One of her girls got the points she needed to complete her championship.   Romeo and Dreamer were good boys and did not seem to mind the hustle and bustle of the show venue.  They did not like the car ride too well, as I made them ride (together) in a wire crate.  I am trying to prepare them for the show in December.  I am still torn whether to take Dreamer.  I look at his faults too much and that makes me not happy with him overall.  He may be looking for a pet home by the end of the year.  He is now a year old and just not what I look for in a breeding dog, even though he was spectacular when he was younger. This is why if you are looking for a breeding dog, you should not be scared of getting older dogs.  There is no guess work in how they will turn out.

I need to get a picture of my little boy that is 5 weeks old.  I seem to get farther and farther behind.  He will also be my first litter to register both AKC and BTRA!

I have received AKC papers for all of my adults.  Still need to appy for Romeo's, but need to get him DNAed first.

The 4 older pups are looking for homes.  If you would be a reference for someone and cut out the time I would take to make the calls, then I would make a great deal on these 4.  (Tate, King, Joy, Jazzy)  OR if you (a current Heaven Sent parent) would like to add one of them to your home a deal is waiting for you too!   As much as I love my babies, I hate to see them have to share me with so many others when they could be in their own home with just a couple of fur siblings.

Need to get busy with school things.....

8-8. Friday

I did get a new picture of each baby on the puppy page.  I still need to get Zinga's baby posted.  He is starting to toddle around more, so it is time to introduce solid food (puppy mush)   This may mean that Zinga will stop cleaning up after him though.

Received emails from AKC notifiying me that 9 of my eleven applications have been given registration numbers.  Not sure why Murphy and TeTe have not received their emails yet, but I am sure they will be coming soon.

I have received two different sizes of wire crates.  Trying to decide what size to purchase and take to the Orlando show.  My friend told me that I should have one for the hotel, one for the vehicle, and one for the show grounds for each dog I take.  (thought that if I was taking the two boys they could ride in the car in one crate).   I put both boys into one crate last night with a divider between them.  Romeo did great.  Dreamer had pooed, even though they barked sometime in the night and I left them outside to potty.  He just needed to notify me sooner!  lol   They went back into the crates until 7 this morning.  Other than the one noisy time, they were as good as gold.  Wonder if they would have been as quiet in separate crates?

If you know of GREAT homes looking for a pet, I would let these older boys go VERY resonably.  They need to be in their forever home getting all of the love and attention instead of having to share me and Dave.  Plus if you act as their reference, it saves me time trying to contact references.

Better get back to getting my classroom ready.  I have worked all this week on it and there is still much to do.  Only wish parents realized how much time teachers put in and don't even get paid or recognized for it.  It is just expected that our classrooms will be a fun learning space.  I told myself that I will leave today by 3, not the 6-7 that I have been leaving!  Better get busy!!
